Information and Communication Technology

The Associate of Applied Science degree in Information and Communication Technology will give you the knowledge and skills for career entry or advancement in a current job. Associate of Applied Science degree program is a two-year program that prepares students for careers, career changes and career advancement.

Associate of Applied Science program may also prepare students for transfer to four-year institutions. These programs offer education in recognized technical areas and specialties with emphasis on analysis, synthesis and evaluation. The program content, which is approximately 30% general education and 70% professional/technical, provides depth and breadth in conceptual and professional/technical skills. The general education courses equip students with the problem solving, communications, scientific and mathematical skills to compete successfully in the job market. Professional/technical courses equip students with the skills to obtain employment and to advance in the workforce.

ICT Mission 

The mission of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is visible and obvious to provide and enhance technology leadership and expertise to cater the need of students in capacity building as well as outreach goals of the Institute-NIMA.  Through its knowledgeable and committed staff, ICT has been offering an excellent Education to its students while ensuring an institutional perspective on IT Based Technology solutions, information security and continuous improvement through computer research teaching methodologies. ICT is committed to achieving its mission to educate and inspire students, empower NIMA/ICT educators and administrators, and advance the state of   IT-Education in Afghanistan.

ICT Vision 

Our vision is to fulfill the technological and IT-Requirements of the local Afghan market with outstanding and professional experts. We are going to align and design our ICT-Curriculum according to international norms, business bodies, Industries, IT-Companies etc. Our students will be deployed into IT-Market right after completion of their two years Associate degree. Our graduates will be equipped with up-to date IT knowledge, in order to meet the need and new challenges of the modern technological world. The ultimate goals are to be recognized as the preferred source of information technology services, and solutions within the NIMA campus community as well as a leading IT house in whole Afghanistan.

Program Outcomes

Upon completion of the two-year degree program in ICT, students will be able to:

  7. Design and develop website, database and network for a small to mid sized organization
  8. Design small applications for standalone systems
