NIMA Management Club

MISSION

The mission of The Management Club is to help students develop skills for success in their professional careers after college through experience and exposure. Our club is committed to professional development that promotes positive social change while exposing students to varying management and leadership styles.

The club’s agenda is consisted of interactions between established professionals and club members, group projects directed towards positive social change, and a sustainable networking platform designed to stimulate the flow of knowledge.

The activities of our club include Members’ Visit to some prominent businesses in Kabul, management of events in NIMA and arrangement of Visits of some Prominent Leaders/Mangers to NIMA.

Activities arranged

In order to give practical exposure to the students, On February 17th, we visited Habib Gulzar Motors Limited (HGML) to see the structure of organization and management. The idea of the club supervisors was to introduce us to the business environment and see how managers organize employees, machines and other resources. The whole plan was to see how efficiency and effectiveness come in a business. Club Supervisors carried 12 students, 2 from each section for visit to HGML. Supervisor left us for free conversation with managers there. Mr Shakil Adil, the CEO of HGML gave us presentation on History of Habib Gulzar Company and Toyota Motors. According to him, HGML is registered with Ministry of Commerce and is a part of Habib Gulzar Group of Companies, a well know business family in Afghanistan. Habib Gulzar group has been doing business locally and internationally since 1940.

Our second prominent activity was drawing competition in NIMA library. In this event, school s of darulaman were invited to participate in the competition. The idea of the activity was to improve the organizational skill of Club students and to support and motivate school students through competition and prizes. The competition lasted for 2 hours resulting in some nice drawings by the school students. NIMA Academic director and Manager appreciated the event.

NIMA Management club visited Coca Cola which is run as a Franchise by Habib Gulzar. The students were warmly welcomed there and were provided information regarding its business through a presentation. The students were highly motivated and asked variety of question. The trip was as important for Management students as HGC is one of the largest businesses in Kabul while following the modern business tools.

Club organized Presentation competition among NIMA students. In first round, each class participated internally and chose their best presenters. On 15th August, Final round of competition was conducted. Some fifteen participants competed where their presentations were evaluated through pre-announced rubric by judges selected from all the departments. Top three presenters received their prizes along with appreciation while judges and the remaining presenters received their gifts from Management club. Mr Qurban Waizi, Lecturer English talked about presenters’ mistakes and shared some other tips. The competition ended with a lavish lunch for club members, supervisors and judges.

NIMA Management club is planning to arrange some other activities. The aim of the club activities is not only practical side of their learning but targeting to improve their communication and organizational skill. And the club, to me, is successful to a greater extent.
